Shopfront Signage — installed by specialists, not generalists

Signage is the most visible part of a shopfront — and the most regulated. Local authority planning, listed building consent (where applicable), advertisement consent, illumination control, structural fixings into historic stone or brick: there's a lot to get right before the first letter goes up.

We design, fabricate and install signage in-house through our group sign division. Where listed-building consent or planning is required, we manage the application, drawings and conservation officer liaison ourselves. You get one supplier, one warranty, one contact.

Shopfront Signage install — FAQs

Do I need planning permission for shopfront signage?
Most non-illuminated fascia signs benefit from deemed consent under the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations. Illuminated signs, projecting signs over a certain size, and any signage on listed buildings require advertisement consent. We manage applications in-house.
How are halo-illuminated letters made?
The letter face is solid (often stainless or painted aluminium), with returns 30–50mm deep. LED strips inside the letter face inward, illuminating the fascia behind. The 'halo' glow makes letters appear to float. More expensive than front-lit but visually striking.
Can you install signs on listed buildings?
Yes, with conservation officer engagement. We use reversible fixing methods (typically M6 stainless studs into existing mortar joints, never into stone faces), and submit listed building consent applications as needed. Most LBC applications are determined within 8 weeks.
What's the lifespan of LED shopfront signage?
High-quality LED modules typically last 50,000+ hours (around 10–12 years at retail trading hours). Drivers should be replaceable separately and typically have a shorter lifespan. We design our signs for component-level repair rather than full replacement.
